She's been there in the dungeons a long time, and now she must choose: A quick death or slow poison....

My arms were heavy with chains and the only thing holding me upright were the guards at my sides, I was led in to a room that looked like a office with a desk and behind the desk a man.

I squinted at the man behind the desk, he was wearing black pants and black shirt with two red diamonds stitched on the collar, the man wore the uniform of an adviser to the Commander, I shuddered at the thought of the tasks the Commander must give him.

His sapphire-blue eyes scanned me, they widened in surprise. "A woman?" He glanced at me once more and said, well Yelena this might me your lucky day"

I looked at him wondering what he possibly could mean.

"You've been tried and found guilty of murdering General Brazell's only son, Reyard, I suppose your going to protest the conviction"?

"No, sir" I whispered my voice thin after the long months of not using it, "I killed him"

He glanced at me once more and said "Yelena, I'm going to offer you a choise. You can either be executed, or live and become the Commanders food taster".

I gaped at him, he had to be joking. "A fool would refuse the job" I said my voice still thin.

His sapphire-blue eyes piercing me when he said "You would be risking your life everyday for as long as you live".

At this statement my mouth closed and I fell silent. I was a sentenced killer, why would they trust me?

"What shall I tell the executioner?" the man asked.

I took a long breath and said "I am not a fool".

I simply loved the book, it was so capturing and realistic. It kept me wondering what would happen next, in which directions would she go and who would she choose....
Poison study is the first in a trilogy, and I would say it was the best out of the three! The book seemed a little depressing at the beginning but trust me it changed :D the main character Yelena learns alot during the first book and has to face several trials such as betrayal, longing and is forced to accept things different than she thought. So when she learns of new mystical things and finds her part in them, she must not only face them but also hide them.

I recommend Poison Study for ALL book readers (maybe not the younger ones) but it is a book you can relate to even in the most odd situations, take my word for it and read it, it truly is remarkable!
